Adfam is a national charity working to help and better the life for families who are affected by alcohol and drugs. At Adfam we want anyone affected by a family members addiction to drugs or alcohol to be able to benefit from healthy relationships as well as feel part of a loving and supportive family whilst enjoying mental and physical wellbeing.
The use of drugs and alcohol can ultimately destroy a family's wellbeing and the relationships within it.
We support frontline workers and influence decision-makers to stop this happening and also we empower family member and careers.
We give families and frontline workers their voice We know and understand that the people who face challenges often also have answers . So, thanks to our supporters we plan a course of action: using empathy and proofs we notify, encourage and empower both workers that cooperate with those that suffer from a substance abuse of family members, as well as those family members. So that both groups can help themselves, their peers, communities and clients, we build skills, confidence, pathways and resources.
The influence of both drug and alcohol abuse on family harmony is intense and diverse. We put lots of care and focus on our work as we tend to use most effective methods for the real world. To achieve this, we never underestimate the value of real-life experience as well as formal research evidence and we also embrace evidence in all diversity. Our work is driven by our supporters, colleagues, friends and what they see.
We focus on providing the best quality of work to our clients as we are not kidding about our work and our organisation. We are treating people and families influenced by substance abuse with dignity and respect, as we don't agree with the public opinion including stigma and prejudice, as those only cause pain and obstacles on the path of recovery. We desire a stigma-free society towards substance abusers and their close ones, and we won't stop until we accomplish this.
